Collaborative family law experts from around the UK gathered in Leeds last Friday to attend the fourth annual ‘Northern Lights’ collaborative family law conference. Around 100 delegates attended the conference which was held at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel.
The conference included a broad programme of workshops, designed to give lawyers and other family professionals the opportunity to enhance their existing skills, to learn new ones and to gain an insight into the roles of other professionals, including financial advisers and relationship coaches.
Workshops were hosted by experienced family lawyers, mediators, counsellors, psychology experts and coaches from around the UK. A wide range of topics were covered including handling difficult situations, using the Rational Emotive and interests-based discussions.
The conference kicked off with a special appearance by the talented young singer/songwriter, Hero Melia aged 14, who performed a song she wrote about her parents’ divorce three years ago. Hero works with the charity Kids in the Middle and part of her role is to share her experiences with other children and to share her ideas for making divorce better for families.
